ROCKHAMPTON ROCKET

Rockhampton Rocket, a Western Australian thoroughbred by Knowledge, was born in October 2010. Trained by Jayne Busslinger, Rockhampton Rocket, known as Ajax off the track, had a brief racing career with just one start in December 2013 before retiring. Transitioning to eventing, Ajax was initially owned by Christie Ridley, competing up to 80cm in eventing and elementary level dressage.

In November 2021, Imogen Hill leased Ajax, eventually purchasing him in December 2022. Imogen and Ajax now compete in various disciplines, including eventing, show jumping, dressage, and endurance riding. Imogen was drawn to Ajax due to the athleticism, willingness, and talent of Thoroughbreds, appreciating how quickly they adapt to new tasks.

Imogen describes Ajax as full of personality, with a strong work ethic and trainability, making him a joy to ride and train. She finds it difficult to single out one achievement, as each accomplishment with Ajax has been uniquely rewarding.

Their recent events include placing 9th in the EvA95 at the 2023 Gidgegannup CCN, showcasing their continued progress. Imogen's short-term goals are to consistently produce clear and confident cross-country runs at 95cm tracks. Long-term, she aims to reach 1* heights with Ajax, continuing their partnership for as long as possible.

Reflecting on their journey, Imogen acknowledges the challenges but finds the rewards immense. The future looks bright for Imogen and Ajax as they strive to achieve their eventing aspirations.
