https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-nNiGU_Jmg
Horses are by evolution a prey animal. To show an outward sign of weakness for a prey animal often means they will be targeting by the prey that hunt them.
Our horses are very good at hiding pain and discomfort from us as a result, it’s what they have evolved to do. Often we talk about the “subtle signs of pain” or the “subtle signs of lameness”- and they can be very hard to see!
This is a great webinar to help you train your eye so you can spot those subtle signs before they become bigger problems.

With Covid putting your usual riding plans all array, many riders are planning to keep working their horses over the summer to ensure they are set to go for the start of the 2021 season. While EA have a Hot Weather Policy for competing in hot weather, it’s important for each individual rider to taek responsibility for the welfare of their own horses either at a comp, or when training at home. Make yourself familiar with the Wet Bulb Globe ratings, and you can use these as a guide at home when deciding when it’s safe to work your horse. In very hot or humid weather, you can be doing more harm than good when working your horse!
As a quick tip- if you feel hot, your horse feels hotter.
