Joining or Renewing
What are the benefits of becoming an EWA member?
Visit the Membership Benefits page for a full summary of the benefits of EWA Membership.
Which membership category should I choose?
Whether you are a highly competitive rider, a recreational rider, a coach, a breeder, or a club, EWA has a membership category for you. Please visit the Membership Categories page to determine which membership category is best for you. Alternatively, you can call the EWA office on (08) 9296 1200 and a staff member will help you determine which membership would suit your requirements.
How much does EWA membership cost?
Please refer to the Price List for membership prices.
Do you offer discounted mid-year or pro rata memberships?
Mid-year memberships are available to new members, members transferring from interstate or renewing members who have not been current since 2022 or prior.
Note: Mid-year discounts are not offered for the Adult Riding and Recreational membership categories.
How long does my membership last?
EWA membership runs by calendar year (i.e. January to December). All EWA memberships will expire on 31 December, regardless of the month the member joined/renewed.
How do I join/renew?
If you have previously been a member of EWA or are transferring from another state, it is likely that your membership number will still be the same and you will be able to renew online through MyEA. If you are unsure of your membership number please contact the EWA office and we will be able to assist you. If you are a brand new member you can join online or complete a membership form and email or post to the EWA office.
Can I pay for my membership in instalments?
If you wish to pay in instalments please click on the link from your renewal, go to the MyEA portal and select PayPal as your payment option and select four (4) payments.
How long will it take for my membership to be processed?
If you have joined online, your membership will be current immediately upon payment. If you have completed a membership form we ask that you allow at least two weeks for your membership to be finalised. During the peak membership period (December - March) your application may take a little longer.
Can I compete before my membership is processed?
Providing the office has received your membership form and correct payment you are able to compete. It's best to check with the office to make sure that your membership application has been received prior to competing. You may need to complete a statutory declaration at the event stating that your paperwork is at the EWA office being processed.
How do I upgrade my membership?
It is quite common that members start the year as Participants or Recreational members and find themselves needing to upgrade later in the year in order to progress to the higher levels of competition. If you would like to upgrade your membership, you can login via MyEA or you can print the upgrade membership form from the EWA website under How To and Forms. The price for upgrading is the cost difference between the two membership categories.
At what age do I become a Senior member?
Members become Seniors in the calendar year that they turn 19. For example, if a member turns 18 years old in February 2018, they are still considered a Junior for the whole 2018 calendar year. In 2019, they would become a Senior member.
Insurance
What does Equestrian Australia (EA) member insurance cover?
EWA members receive Personal Accident Cover (for injuries you sustain) and Public and Product Liability Cover (for third party property damage and personal injury) under the Marsh Insurance EA Membership Structure. For more information, click here.
Do I need EA member insurance if my club already has its own insurance?
Most club insurance policies only cover the club, its office bearers and volunteers by providing Public & Product Liability, Personal Accident, Professional Indemnity and Management Liability Insurance. If you would like your own insurance to cover you for injuries you sustain, and accidents or damages that occur to third parties as a result of you or your horse, you will need your own insurance.
Does EA member insurance have exclusions?
Members are not covered for:
- Income-earning equestrian activities
- Ball sports such as Polo or Polocrosse
- Point-to-Point Racing
- Activities involving cattle
When is my insurance effective?
The insurance is effective at the point EWA confirms your membership details and payment.
I have had an accident and would like to make a claim. Who do I contact?
Please visit the Marsh Sport Website or call the Marsh Sport team on 1300 130 373 or email them at [email protected]
