BABY CHANGE
Awesome Rock filly, Baby Charge, had two race starts before retiring in September 2024. After a handful of trials and unsuccessful racing attempts under trainers Stefan Vahala and Mitchell Pateman, Baby Charge transitioned into an off-the-track career.
Rehomed through breeder and equestrian Georgie Siciliano, Baby Charge was initially purchased by Lisa Downey as a project and potential show jumping prospect for her daughter. With a solid foundation established by Siciliano and her former trainers, Baby Charge was well-prepared for life beyond racing.
Ridden by Mikaela Downey, Baby Charge quickly became a beloved member of the family. Described as having a sweet disposition and a strong desire to please, she has left a lasting impression.
“Her breeder/owner is a testament to her rideability,” Lisa remarked. “She loves her humans, enjoys cuddles, and just wants to do her best.”
Mikaela and Baby Charge began their journey together by gaining experience over poles and cross rails, exposing the mare to new environments. In 2024, they competed at Swan River Show Jumping, placing at their first outing. They also entered Oakford Jump Cross and took on Brigadoon’s cross-country course to build experience. Both Lisa and Mikaela expressed their belief in Baby Charge’s potential and were excited for her future in show jumping and eventing.
Earlier this year, in January 2025, Baby Charge found a new owner in Alivia Coppin. We wish Alivia and Baby Charge all the best for the season ahead and look forward to seeing them continue their off-the-track journey together.
