PRYZWIN
The 2008 Danewin gelding known as Pryzwin, or “Rudey” around the stables, was originally bred by Emirates Park in Victoria but never made it to the racetrack. Initially retrained for eventing up to EvA80cm by Katelyn Shearer, he was purchased by the Smith Family in 2021 as an eventing partner for young rider Serena Smith. Transitioning from a successful show horse background, Serena took her time building a partnership with Rudey, which paid off in their eventing career.
Their journey began in early 2022, working through initial challenges, especially on cross-country. Through dedication, they quickly advanced from 65cm to CCN1* within a year. Serena noted, “It took us about six months to finally work each other out to now be able to go around clear at every event.”
Recently, they concluded the 2024 season with impressive accomplishments: traveling to the Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Championships in Tamworth (NSW) as part of Team WA, where they secured an impressive 6th place in the CCN1*, followed by a 2nd place in the CCN1*-S at Brigadoon WA CCI-S, and a 5th place in the CCN2*-S at the Swan River CCN-S Capel.
Serena and Rudey have demonstrated a remarkable progression in eventing, with their bond and experience fueling their continued success across competitive levels.
