MORSECODIAN | LV MAVERICK
Morsecodian, a gelding by All Chatter, started his racing career in the eastern states before moving to Western Australia to join Peter Fernie’s team. Racing mainly in the Goldfields Region, he had an impressive record of 58 starts, achieving 11 wins, 14 placings, and earning $148,509 in prize money.
Now known as LV Maverick (Mav), the retired racehorse has found a new life with harness racing trainer Skye Bond, who also maintains a small team of equestrian horses. Since joining Skye’s team in 2013, Mav has proven to be a versatile athlete. He’s dabbled in hacking, show jumping, dressage, and has a particular love for eventing.
Although Skye no longer has much time to compete herself, Mav continues to shine under her care. He is currently training at medium-level dressage and has competed in show jumping up to 1 meter. Skye’s daughter has also taken a special interest in Mav, enjoying competing with him in eventing, which has become a favorite for both of them.
Mav’s post-racing career is a testament to the adaptability and talent of thoroughbreds, showing that with the right care and training, they can excel in various equestrian disciplines beyond the racetrack.
