THUNDER GOD

Thunder God (KP Playback), an eight-year-old gelding by Playing God, retired from racing in 2019 after just three starts under trainer Stephen Miller. Though his racing career was brief, Thunder God has found his true calling in the world of eventing and show jumping, where he has excelled alongside his rider, Ella McCrum.

Since transitioning from the track, Thunder God has proven to be a formidable competitor. The duo recently achieved a 5th place finish in the 1.10m class at the 2024 Yalambi Autumn Jumping event, showcasing their skills in the jumping arena. In eventing, they secured impressive placings, including 4th in the EvA95 at Capel CCN-S and 5th in the EvA95 at Future Eventing Capel CCN.

Their success extends beyond these recent accomplishments. Ella and Thunder God were the under 16's champions in the 1.00m-1.04m class at the 2023 WASJA Patrons Cup and contributed to the winning team at the 2024 Perth Show Jumping League. Additionally, they were the second-highest placed Off the Track combination at the 2024 WA Interschools Championships, demonstrating the gelding’s versatility and talent.

Under the guidance of coach Debbie Greenwood and through regular participation in development clinics, Ella and Thunder God continue to hone their skills. They are set to compete in the Combined Training 95cm, as well as 1m and 1.10m show jumping classes at the Australian Interschools Championships, proudly representing the success and adaptability of retired racehorses.
