BLUE SANDGROPER

Blue Sandgroper, affectionately known as "Gropey," began his racing career in early 2018, owned by Darling View Thoroughbreds and trained by David Harrison. This Patronize gelding claimed his first and only win at Pinjarra in mid-2019, retiring with total earnings of $16,405. After retirement, Gropey returned to the Darling View property, where he spent a few years among the broodmares.

In 2022, Harriet Forrest rehomed Gropey, seeking a larger horse to continue her riding pursuits. Having seen the potential and trainability of thoroughbreds through friends, Harriet was drawn to Gropey. She began retraining him for an eventing career, taking a steady approach to ensure strong foundational basics. Described as the most loving and intelligent horse, Gropey quickly became a beloved companion.

Their partnership has flourished in the eventing and jumping arenas. Recent achievements include placing 4th in EvA at Future Eventing Capel CCN, 5th in EvA95 at Dryandra CCI-S, and 7th in EvA95 at Wooroloo CCN-S. Harriet attributes their success to Gropey’s fast learning, highly trainable nature, and loving personality.

Together, Harriet and Gropey continue to build a strong and successful partnership in the eventing world, showcasing the potential of thoroughbreds in post-racing careers.
