
Celebrating Off the Track Champions at the Equestrian WA Awards Night
The Off the Track WA Horse of the Year Award at the 2024 Equestrian WA Awards Night highlighted the incredible versatility and success of retired racehorses in equestrian sports. These outstanding horses, once competitors on the racetrack, have thrived in their second careers thanks to the dedication and passion of their riders.
1st Place: The Diamond Thief & Katherine Joyce
Affectionately known as Henry, The Diamond Thief continued his impressive eventing career in 2024 with multiple wins at the 3* level and strong results at 4*, proving his ability to compete at the highest levels. His success in showjumping, with wins and placings from 1.10m to 1.25m, further highlights his versatility and partnership with Katherine.
2nd Place: SV Supermaxi & Charlee Morton-Sharp
SV Supermaxi had an exceptional year, dominating in the showjumping arena with multiple wins at 1.10m–1.25m, including the Perth Royal Show. This talented duo also impressed in eventing, securing victories at Swan River CCN-S, Wooroloo CCN-S, and WAYER Brigadoon. Their ability to excel across disciplines demonstrates the adaptability of Off the Track horses.
3rd Place: Allwest & Sophie Stott
Allwest showcased his talent in showjumping throughout the 2024 season, earning multiple placings at prestigious events, including the HyGain Patrons Cup Festival of Showjumping, GCEC July Showjumping, and the Perth Showjumping League. His season highlight was a well-deserved win at the Perth Royal Show, proving his consistency and ability to perform under pressure.
A special thank you to Off the Track WA for their ongoing support of retired racehorses and our equestrian community. Their commitment ensures these incredible horses have opportunities beyond racing. We were honoured to have Paige MacKay present this award on the night, celebrating the success of these outstanding Off the Track Horses.
