HAVA LITTLE FAITH

Hava Little Faith, a 2009 Cape North gelding known as “Kermit,” retired after three trials under trainer Holly Palmer. Bred for racing, Kermit quickly found a new purpose, thanks to his quiet, trainable nature. Holly’s dedication to groundwork laid the foundation for his second career.

Amelia Radford first noticed Kermit during his trials and was drawn to his calm demeanor and standout personality. After expressing interest, Amelia acquired Kermit in 2012, beginning a journey that would span over a decade. Despite initial concerns about his laidback nature, Kermit proved to be a brave and adaptable partner in eventing.

The pair debuted in 2013 at Dryandra ODE, later pausing their eventing career for four years when Amelia moved to Port Hedland, where Kermit served as a Clerk of the Course horse. Resuming in 2017, the duo climbed the grades, achieving milestones such as a third-place finish in the 3* class at the 2021 Brigadoon CCN and competing in the Grand Prix at Equestrian In The Park.

After a brief hiatus for Amelia’s hip surgery, Kermit took junior rider Ava DeBrito to her first eventing win at Dardanup Pony Club. Now reunited, Amelia and Kermit have returned to higher-level competition, including the CCN2*-S at recent 2024 events like Murray CCN-S, Brigadoon CCN-S, and Dryandra Cuballing WA CCI-S. They also excelled in jumping, placing in the 1.10m Open AM7 at Yalambi Autumn Jumping.

Amelia’s ultimate goal is to compete in the Adelaide International, but for now, she cherishes every ride with her “once-in-a-lifetime” horse.
