LASCIA STAR | STELLA

Lascia Star, a 2016 Viscount mare, retired from racing in 2020 after five starts under trainer Jarrad Humphries. Initially intended as a broodmare, she was rehomed by Fiona Whife, who decided to transition the sensitive mare into a show horse instead. Shown as Petite Etoile, which translates to “Little Star,” Stella began her showing career with the aim of gaining confidence as she progressed. Over time, she has thrived in her new role.

Ridden by Lauren King, Stella has enjoyed significant success in the show ring. At the 2024 EWA Horse and Rider of the Year event, Stella won 1st place in the Off the Track Ridden Thoroughbred class with Lauren King, 1st in the Childs Small Show Hack Over 15H up to Inc 16H with Kandace Langley, 1st in Senior Rider 26 years and older with Lauren, and 1st in Fashion on the Field 12 years to 17 years with Matilda Wilkins.

At the 2024 EWA Show Horse Autumn Pageant, Stella placed 1st in the Lightweight Show Hack over 15H up to Inc 16H and 2nd in the Show Hack over 15.2H up to Inc 16H, also with Lauren King aboard.

Fiona credits Stella’s transformation from a nervous mare to a confident competitor to Lauren’s calm and patient training style. Early successes included qualifying for Grand Nationals and achieving Runner Up Small Show Hack at the Show Horse Council Classic.

"We are very proud of Stella," said Fiona.

Stella will be heading to Sydney to compete at Nationals, with a big few months of showing ahead, including prestigious events like the Sydney and Canberra Royals.

We wish them all the very best for their upcoming travels and competitions.
